Meet Our Clara: Camilla Palmer Takes Center Stage in The Nutcracker

Every Nutcracker begins with Clara. This season, that role belongs to Camilla Palmer.

Camilla is a homeschool student from New Hampshire, and she has dreamed of this moment for a long time. Again and again she watched the professional dancers and UNH dance students who perform with Northeastern Ballet Theatre and pictured herself on stage beside them. This November, she will be there.

A Dream Role

As Clara, Camilla carries the story from start to finish: the Christmas Eve party, the midnight battle, the snowy forest and the Kingdom of Sweets. Two moments are already her favorites, her scenes with the Snow Queen and with the Nutcracker Prince. They are among the most magical partnerships in the ballet, and Camilla can’t wait to dance them.

A Word from Our Artistic Director

“Clara is the heart of The Nutcracker,” said Edra Toth, NBT’s Artistic Director and former prima ballerina with Boston Ballet. “Camilla brings warmth, poise and genuine joy to the role, and we can’t wait for audiences to see her shine.”
